Would you like to support a team of play designers creating digital experiences for millions and millions of kids all over the world?

As the Craft Manager for our Design Craft here at Toca Boca you will make sure that your team has everything they need in order to be the best they can be.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll have the personnel responsibility of 10 people working as Play Designers, UX Designers and Level Implementers. This includes regular check-ins, goal settings, salary negotiations, recruitment etc.

You’ll also be the one to guide the craft and help them grow in skills and knowledge, and build/maintain trust between the team members. This means you have to have previous knowledge and insight into the daily work of a Play/Game Designer.

You’ll be the visionary for the craft - how does the craft skills align with the future Toca Products? You’ll be a key representative for play design at Toca Boca and help educate others about the craft and what they do.

The position



As a game designer, your focus is to deliver world-class gameplay experience to our players, including new features, system and content. By seeing the world through our users’ eyes, you are bringing content for a one-of-a-kind game to a unique audience. Since we release weekly, you get almost instant feedback on the players' reaction on the releases. You will collaborate with different parts of your team and craft and coordinate work ensuring cohesive design and implementation.

We think you have a couple of years of experience working with game design for live games, preferably experience working with proprietary game engines or tools. You have a strong understanding of game design principles and how they impact the player experience. This role is available onsite in Stockholm or remote across France, Spain, Sweden and the UK.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, balance and oversee the various AI systems.

Drive core AI systems such as combat, navigation, abilities, tactics and senses!

Work closely with the combat designer, animators, gameplay programmers, and other teams to prototype and implement combat features.

Take designs through a full development cycle from concept to release.

Define and shape our enemy gallery of different enemy types in close collaboration with our combat designer.

Use metrics, player feedback, and a multitude of diverse analytics to improve and refine the design.

Requirements:

Experience as an AI Designer on 1+ titles, preferably on an action game.

Shipped 1+ AAA game where you were heavily involved in AI behaviors or combat.

Experience designing AI behaviors for a variety of combat scenarios.

Experience with behavior tree development for controlling AI behavior.

We are looking for a person who can add their knowledge, skills and experience within Meta Game, Progression, Engagement and Retention design, to a team of around 100 game makers that are in the production phase of development of a Free-to-play PvP Action Game.

As an Engagement Designer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, balancing and maintaining meta game features, including various types of player progression and player competition, that add to the player experience, and give players meaningful goals and activities to strive for over time.

You will be working closely together with the monetization team, as well as Game Production and Product Direction, in analyzing the performance of meta game features, to ensure that we are able to engage and retain consistently and over a long time, as part of the game’s Live Service ambitions.

You will also work closely together with Creative and Gameplay Direction. And you will be working cross collaboratively with Core Gameplay Designers as well as UI and UX Developers, to ensure that engagement features are presented as an attractive package that fits well with the rest of the game.

Example of responsibilities

Design and collaborate on metagame and progression systems and features for long term player retention and engagement

Articulating, pitching and presenting engagement features and systems for the project to adopt and develop

Monitor trends on engagement systems in order to identify best practices, achieve optimal results and innovation
Be a stakeholder in the frontend, to make sure that retention and engagement features are part of a cohesive experience design
Analyze the impact of changes in the game and identify opportunities that will have a positive impact on engagement in development and as part of the Live Service

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Backend Developer at Central Tech, you will be leading a lot of the work to really make our backend stack a platform and with that, let the Game Team developers focus on building the best possible game.

You will be creating processes and tools and introducing best practices for things like verifying the quality of our services, vetting third party packages or handling security for backend services.

Together with the rest of the team, you will define and set up common levels of monitoring of backend services, and create tooling to let platform users (developers) get the telemetry they need.

You’ll support the team by ensuring sustainable development processes and workflows. You will support and coach the other developers in the company to really embrace TypeScript.

You’ll be leading work with our existing, shared services, making sure they are as efficient as possible, and as needed, migrate services built on other platforms to TypeScript/NestJS.

Do you want to work with an app loved by kids all around the world? Toca Life World has millions (and millions) of users with more and more kids discovering the app every day. It’s a live platform for true open-ended play, an ever-expanding space where kids can tell any story they like.

As a Backend Developer at the Central Tech team of Toca Boca, you’d oversee backend improvements, refine shared services, and promote TypeScript, enabling game developers and enhancing backend effectiveness.

What you’ll be doing

As a Backend Developer at Central Tech, you will together with the team work to really make our backend stack a platform and with that, let the Game Team developers focus on building the best possible game. You will be a part of creating processes and tools and introducing best practices for things like verifying the quality of our services, vetting third party packages or handling security for backend services.

Together with the rest of the team, you will define and set up common levels of monitoring of backend services, and create tooling to let platform users (developers) get the telemetry they need.

As our Senior System Administrator your focus will be on Toca Boca and its sister studios Noid and Nørdlight, located here in Stockholm and sharing the same studio space. As a growing company with a focus on high-quality apps, we are implementing processes and ways of working across multiple studios. You will collaborate with our owners Spin Master to identify synergies, and ways of effectively working together with the various systems we use across the enterprise. What you’ll be doing

As the administrator and chief architect of our systems, tools, and services, your role involves a balance of troubleshooting technical issues and spearheading enhancements in our digital infrastructure. You'll play a key role in refining system configurations, optimizing our tech stack, and improving workflows. Your expertise in system management, coupled with a proficiency in scripting, will be crucial for automating certain processes and enhancing operational efficiency.

Collaboration is key in your role as you work closely with teams to make informed decisions on tools and services, manage licenses and access, and automate tasks for greater efficiency. By streamlining processes and providing the right resources, you empower teams to focus on valuable work, fostering a productive and collaborative environment.

Is this you?

You are an experienced professional who has held a similar position in the past. You have 3-5 years of experience in providing 2nd line support. You have admin level experience with either Google Workspace or Office 365. Security expertise is important, including implementing single sign-on, two-factor authentication, or other security measures. Experience in managing fleets of both Mac and Windows computers and working with AWS or GCP is preferred. You’re proficient in scripting, and have an understanding of LAN/WAN, routing, wireless networks, and Windows networking.
