Nytt
We're looking for a FX Artist to craft believable, high-fidelity real-time effects for a visually grounded game. You'll be responsible for the explosions, fire, smoke, fluids, weather, environmental ambiance, weapon and impact effects, and gameplay-critical readability that make our world feel physical and alive. You'll work closely with art, design, and engineering to push realism while hitting performance and clarity targets.
Example of responsibilities

Create and own high-quality real-time visual effects: fire, smoke, explosions, debris, fluids, atmospherics, weather, and surface/impact responses, grounded in real-world reference.

Build effects that balance visual fidelity, gameplay readability, and runtime performance across target platforms.

Author shaders and materials for FX, and collaborate with tech artists/engineers on simulation, lighting integration, and optimization.

Develop and maintain reusable VFX systems, tools, and libraries to scale quality across the team.

Partner with design and animation to ensure effects communicate gameplay clearly (telegraphs, hit feedback, state changes).

Profile and optimize effects (overdraw, particle counts, draw calls, GPU cost) and debug issues across the pipeline.

Contribute to look development, references, and visual targets alongside the Art Director and VFX Lead.

It would be awesome if you have

5+ years of professional VFX experience in games, with at least one shipped title (or comparable production work).

Strong real-time VFX skills in a modern engine; Unreal Engine (Niagara) and/or Unity (VFX Graph/Shuriken).

Solid understanding of the physics and behavior behind realistic effects

Proficiency with node-based shaders/materials and a good grasp of real-time lighting and rendering.

Experience authoring textures and simulations using tools such as Houdini, EmberGen, Substance, or similar.

A strong artistic eye, timing, silhouette, color, composition, and motion.

Performance-minded: comfortable profiling and optimizing for frame budgets.

Strong communication and collaboration skills across art, design, and engineering.

Nice to have

Houdini for VFX simulation and tool/HDA creation.

Experience with fluid/destruction systems (e.g., Chaos, FLIP/Pyro).

Scripting (Python, Blueprint, or similar) for tooling and automation.

Background in film/VFX or a strong traditional art/photography foundation.

At Embark we offer competitive salaries, a generous profit-sharing program, and much more, but most of all we invite you to take part of a journey into the unknown, to build creative, surprising and beautiful experiences together.
We welcome people from all backgrounds and are looking forward to reading more about you (in English)!

As a Data Backend Engineer in the data tech team at Embark you will be a gamemaker focused on building the Python/Go services and data applications that turn raw telemetry into insights, tools, and experiences that shape our games. You will help develop the backends that power how our game designers and developers explore, understand, and act on the data their games produce.
The data team at Embark is small and focused on making sure that game design and development have a data model and reporting system that provide the necessary data and analysis to serve every aspect of the business. At Embark, we believe in creating smaller teams of well-aligned experts that can be trusted to keep things running smoothly while exploring innovative solutions.
Some of the technologies we currently use are Python, Go, GCP, BigQuery, Typescript, Bazel, Terraform and Kubernetes. As a data backend engineer, your focus is to build services that not only work well, but are also easy to maintain, extend and deploy.
Example of responsibilities

Design, build and maintain the services that expose game telemetry through APIs and UIs, let teams explore and configure the events their games emit, and serve low-latency data back into game-facing applications.

Work on our data agent and other LLM-powered tooling that helps game makers ask questions of their data in new ways.

Add new summaries and refined logic to our event pipeline

Continuously improve our engineering practices and automate existing workflows to make sure our services are easy to deploy, scale and maintain.

Collaborate closely with other teams to build solutions that the players (and fellow game makers) love.

We would love if you have

A passion for interactive experiences, games and new technologies

Strong experience building production backends and a good sense for what makes them maintainable over time

A solid understanding of distributed systems and experience building them on a cloud infrastructure

Experience working with data at scale — pipelines, warehouses (we use BigQuery), and the trade-offs between batch and streaming

A solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering practices and what it takes to keep services running smoothly around the clock

A good grasp of performance, optimization and observability

Experience with some of the other technologies we use such as Python,Go, GCP and BigQuery

The ability to be a great team player with good communication skills

Professional English communication skills

At Embark we offer competitive salaries, passionate colleagues to share knowledge with and much more, but most of all we invite you to take part of a journey into the unknown, to build creative, surprising and beautiful experiences together.

You'll work closely with writers, researchers, designers, and other engineers to explore different levels of AI agency to intentionally design where AI agency makes sense and where it doesn't.
This is a role for someone who is excited about creative tooling, loves building things that people actually use, and is genuinely enthusiastic about what new AI techniques can enable in games.
Example of responsibilities

Build gameplay systems and tools that enable new narrative workflows and faster iteration for creators

Collaborate with designers and narrative teams to understand creative needs and turn them into intuitive tooling

Develop engine integrations and "hooks" that expose the right information for analysis, validation, and experimentation

Create debugging and diagnostics workflows that make complex systems understandable and easy to iterate on

Work with writers and designers to explore and prototype AI-native gameplay mechanics that preserve authorial intent while enabling emergence and reactivity

Prototype experimental features quickly, then help mature the best ideas into robust production-ready solutions

Help design and evaluate different degrees of AI autonomy, balancing creative ambition, reliability, and control

Help ensure AI-assisted workflows remain controllable, transparent, and human-driven

Work across disciplines to integrate tools into real game development pipelines, not isolated demos

We would love if you have

Strong gameplay engineering experience and excellent C++ skills

Experience working in Unreal Engine

A passion for tooling, iteration speed, and developer experience

A creator mindset: you enjoy building systems that make other people more effective

Comfort collaborating with designers and translating creative goals into technical solutions

Professional English communication skills

Additionally, it's a bonus if you have

Experience building editor tools or content workflows in Unreal Engine

Familiarity with language models, AI tooling, evaluation, or "human-in-the-loop" creative systems

Experience with narrative systems, quest pipelines, or other creator-driven game features

Python experience, or interest in working across engine + services/tooling

Senior Publishing Lead

Läs mer Dec 15
We are looking for a strategic and driven Senior Publishing Lead to lead our new Publishing organisation. In this role, you will hold the pen on the publishing strategy for our titles, leading a focused operational team to bring that strategy to life. You will act as a bridge between your team, our game teams, marketing, and commercial. You won't just design strategy in a vacuum; you will own the execution of the live-service and publishing plans. You will own the publishing roadmap, drive key partnerships, and ensure our games reach their full potential across all platforms.
Example of responsibilities:

Strategic Publishing Ownership: Go beyond execution by defining the comprehensive publishing strategy. You will collaborate with Commercial to set goals, but you will own the high-level roadmap to achieve them — collaborating closely with Marketing on the execution, platforms and schedule of our go-to-market and live-service beats.

Commercial Lifecycle Management: Co-develop the game’s commercial roadmap. You will partner with Commercial to define pricing structures and lifecycle beats, ensuring that our promotional calendars are executed flawlessly and adapted based on market performance.

Cross-Functional Orchestration: Serve as a key partner to the Marketing and Game Development teams. You will ensure commercial goals are woven into the game’s design and marketing campaigns early on, preventing silos and aligning all teams toward a unified launch and live-service plan.

Strategic Partnerships: Identify, negotiate, and manage high-impact product partnerships (hardware, platform, brand) that elevate our titles and expand our player base.

Data-Informed Leadership: Promote a data-first culture. You will utilize sales data and analytics not just to report on the past, but to forecast trends and proactively pivot publishing tactics in real-time.

We would love if you have:

Proven Experience: Significant experience in Game Publishing, Product Management, or Commercial Operations (PC/Console focus).

Strategic Operator: You can oscillate between high-level strategy and on-the-ground execution. You don't just follow a plan; you build it and drive it to completion.

Commercial Fluency: Deep understanding of digital sales channels, pricing psychology, and live-service economics.

Collaborative Influence: Ability to build consensus and influence cross-functional teams (Marketing, Game Teams, Commercial, Execs).

(Bonus) Proven track record of negotiating complex partnerships or managing first-party platform relationships.
