Do you want to be part of creating a multiplayer digital playground for kids to hang out in and play together?

You’ll be part of a growing game team in delivering our most ambitious project yet - Toca Days - a friendly multiplayer world for children where they can feel safe, creative and be able to express themselves.

As the first UI Artist on this project you’ll be the one to create the majority of the UI assets - from placeholder to final art, from menus and buttons to in-game assets.

What you’ll be doing
You will be responsible for creating all UI visuals in the game. This means:

-
Developing the visual identity of said UI, in collaboration with the Art Director and UX Designer. Ensuring the look is consistent and inline with the visual identity of Toca Boca as a whole.

-
Creating game-ready UI assets and implementing them in-engine with the support of the rest of the team.

Developing documentation and style guides for the project as the game grows, ensuring it remains in line with the overall project vision.

-
Iterating on the visuals to make sure they are accessible and understood by all our players.

Is this you?
You are an experienced UI Artist who’s comfortable designing for touch screen devices (be it from working with games or other mobile apps).

You’re used to working with Illustrator and vector graphics and UI art tools in general. You might have an interest in UI animation and/or 2D illustration.

You have a strong appreciation of UX design and an ability to see beyond the wireframes, turning them into magic. You understand how color, shape and placements have an effect on gameplay and player behavior.

What we’ll be looking for in your portfolio
We are looking for a strong UI art portfolio showing finished projects you’ve worked on as part of a team. We’d like to see you explain your thoughts and share your explorations, so we can understand your process. We would like to see examples of vector icons and playful graphical UI details.

Senior Unity Developer

Do you want to take part in future-proofing an app loved by millions of kids around the world, making sure it stays around for years to come?

Toca Life World has grown beyond our wildest imagination and we’ve not really been able to keep up. It’s time to catch up, and that’s where you come in. You’ll be an influential part in shipping several future proofing- and technical foundation projects in our Toca Life World Core team.

What you’ll be doing
You’ll be an important member of our Core Team, updating the legacy code base in order to make it into something that could scale and accommodate the implementation of new features and functionality in the coming years. We’re not going anywhere.

The challenging part is that Toca Life World is a live product used by millions of kids every day, all day. Rolling out tech projects under these circumstances is kind of like changing a tire on a moving car. It requires a high level of coordination, structure and team work.

But legacy code is not all there is, you’ll also be implementing new systems. New stuff with an old app. By “new stuff” we mean new systems enabling further growth, giving us the ability to scale up even more. Exciting, huh?
Is this you?
You’re a C# developer with extensive experience working within the Unity ecosystem. You’ve worked with various projects so far, and have been involved in at least one project focusing on reducing the complexity of the code base.

You have experience working in larger teams and enjoy collaborating with other developers (and who else might be involved in the project).

You know what great architecture looks like and have experience working with, and maintaining, live products. You enjoy working with tech from the macro perspective, being able to see how it all comes together.

You believe in the power of play!

Do you want to be part of creating a multiplayer digital playground for kids to hang out in and play together?

As our next UX Designer you’ll be part of a growing game team in delivering our most ambitious project yet - Toca Days - a friendly multiplayer world for children where they can feel safe, creative and be able to express themselves.

You will create a super fun, intuitive, smooth and playful experience for kids. You will literally bring smiles to children around the world. How can anyone resist!?

What you’ll be doing
Your days and weeks will include anything from working closely with play designers to create your own UX flows for new features. You might spend an entire day with a developer perfecting an interaction, or zooming out for big picture discussions like “how will shopping in the grocery store work?”.

In this project you will work with Toca Boca’s classic free form and intuitive interaction design while also applying it to more classical game elements such as progression and communication systems. It’s a great chance at being part of forming the future UX language for Toca Boca apps and products.

You’ll provide UX knowledge, best practices and solutions to various areas of the game, designing logic wireframe flows and layout of UI menus as well as accessibility features. You’ll ensure consistency in UX/UI across the game and advocate for usability and simplicity in interactions.
Is this you?
You are a UX Designer with experience from working with touch screens devices and/or at a games studio. You have strong technical understanding and previous experience working with a game engine. We use Unity, you might have worked with a different one.

You’re an advocate for the player experience and driving features forward. You are open to feedback and the perspective of others and love to collaborate with various people, and roles, in your team. Of course you also deliver your own feedback in a constructive and friendly manner.

You are adaptive in your ways of working, making a prototype to explain a concept feels as natural to you as working closely with a developer to tweak the HUD in a very practical way.
You document your design and decisions in a pedagogical and understandable way.

You believe in the power of play!

What we’ll be looking for in your portfolio
We want to see a portfolio with some real games that you’ve worked on and we are interested in learning more about your design process. What problems and challenges did you solve? What was your role in the project and what were your key learnings?

We are also happy to see unfinished design ideas, alternatives you investigated as well as personal projects. Previous work with kids as the target audience is of course interesting too.
