Realtime Embedded AB (RTE) är specialister på innovation och produktutveckling. RTE utvecklar mjukvara och hårdvara för inbyggda system med fokus på industriell IoT och digitalisering. Våra specialister har lång erfarenhet från verksamheter inom många olika branscher. Vi tar ansvar för ett utvecklingsprojekt eller bidrar med specialistkompetens till kundens team. Vår kärnverksamhet är att utveckla lösningar inom inbyggda system. Några av de kompetenser vi har är elektronikdesign, FPGA, OS-utveckling, drivrutiner, realtid, algoritmer, fullstack, applikationsutveckling och projektledning.

Om rollen

Som Linux-utvecklare kommer du att vara delaktig som specialist i våra kundprojekt. Antingen som en del av kundens team eller som en del av vårt projektteam som levererar industriella IoT-lösningar. Våra kunder är huvudsakligen små och mellanstora industriföretag i Sverige. Storleken på våra projekt varierar, allt från mindre projekt till större mer komplexa projekt där förutsättningarna skiftar längs vägen.
Du kommer att arbeta med systemutveckling i projektets alla faser från behovsanalys och lösningsförslag till implementation, test och dokumentation.

Om dig

För att lyckas i denna roll förväntar vi oss att du är nyfiken, tekniskt intresserad och har en ambition att ständigt utvecklas. Som person är du självgående, analytisk och lösningsorienterad. Det är viktigt att du trivs med att arbeta i team.

Din bakgrund kan vara varierande men vi ser gärna att du har en högskoleexamen inom teknik. Du är van att arbeta med Linux, Python och C. Du är välbekant med Git, Yocto-baserade Linux-distributioner samt Linux kernel och drivrutinsutveckling. Vi uppskattar om du även har följande meriter:
Minst 3 års relevant arbetslivserfarenhet av systemutveckling
Erfarenhet av agilt arbete
Erfarenhet av mjukvara för inbyggda system
Förmåga att uttrycka dig flytande på svenska

Peratech is looking for an Embedded Firmware Engineer

The Firmware Engineer will be working with our customer-facing engineering team, other internal engineering teams and partners to define requirements from customer inputs, create interfaces to our force/pressure sensors, produce data calibration and linearization algorithms, and communicate data to other systems. The engineer will use his/her technical background to devise innovative solutions for these requirements and will have the opportunity to work with a variety of microcontroller architectures, though our primary targets are ARM Cortex core based. The Peratech Product and Solutions Development team is in central Stockholm and the postholder will be located there. The engineer will be part of a global solutions team, with colleagues and internal and external customers all over the world. Therefore, this job could include around 30 travel days a year internationally, especially to Asia.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works with technical sales team and other engineers to define product specifications from functional requirements and determine firmware integration needs.
• Develop, test and deploy firmware solutions and ideas for integrating Peratech sensors into a variety of system applications in diverse industry segments and embodiments. (e.g. mobile, consumer electronics, robotics, IoT, industrial, smart home, automotive, health/medical diagnostics, etc.)
• Use innovative signal analysis techniques to characterize signal coming from our sensor systems
• Collaborates with our UX/UI and mechanical engineering teams as well as with internal and external customers on a global basis to provide innovative pressure/force-sensing solutions
• Devises and implements advanced sensor calibration, linearization, correction and classification algorithms in the embedded firmware environment
• Provides documentation of code in an easy-to-understand form, to allow extensive reuse of functions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Qualified to a minimum of BSc level in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with an MSc degree in any of the above disciplines
• At least five years' experience in firmware engineering with a proven ability to deliver products on time and on budget
• Experience in creating well structured, easy-to-understand code, with excellent documentation
• Fluency in spoken and written English, with communication skills at a professional level
• Proven ability to work in a multinational environment
• A valid work permit for working in the EU with at least one-year validity
• Ability to work in Stockholm
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
• ARM Cortex embedded firmware development in C, C++ with high levels of optimization in the form of firmware libraries, with the ability to produce assembler code if necessary
• Creating code modules for RTOS environments (e.g. FreeRTOS, Zephyr)
• Signal analysis and characterization in low-power environments
• Creation of bootloaders
• Implementation of embedded communications protocols, including USB, Bluetooth, I2C. SPI and UART
• A basic knowledge of electronics for system architecture, with the ability to read and understand schematic diagrams
ADDITIONAL USEFUL EXPERIENCE
• Writing code for other MCU types beyond ARM (e.g. PIC, Arduino)
• Source control via Azure DevOps, GIT
• Realization of automated testing platforms and unit tests
• Experience designing modules for human machine interfaces, such as control panels and membrane switches, touch screens, track pads, keypads, dials, controls and other physical interfaces into handheld or fixed electronics devices
• Integration of AI/ML code modules in the embedded environment

The Software Development Engineer is someone with excellent analytical, problem solving, algorithm and design skills, who can architect, develop, and implement graphical UI software as an important part of our global Product and Solutions Development team. The engineer will use his/her technical background to devise innovative solutions for these requirements, working closely with local and global engineering teams, and managing external resources. The Peratech Product and Solutions team has created a centre of excellence for software and hardware in Stockholm and the postholder will be part of that. The engineer will also be part of a global solutions team, with colleagues and internal and external customers all over the world. Therefore, this job could include up to 20 travel days a year internationally, especially to Asia and occasionally within Europe.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under the direction of our Director of Software, works closely with our electronics, firmware and mechanical engineering teams to design new code and/or adapt existing code to provide best in class integration and performance between UIs and embedded systems, giving optimum user experience for Peratech’s pressure/force-sensing solutions for our customers
• In conjunction with other engineers and technical sales teams, defines product specifications from functional requirements and determine UI software needs for customers. Uses capabilities and experience to define any missing requirements
• Creates and implements UI solutions for those internal and external customers based on customer requirements.
• Creates application and customer documentation allowing customers to easily use Peratech sensors in a wide variety of products
• Test and deploy applications and systems
REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
• A Bachelors level or above in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• At least five years' experience in professional software engineering with a proven ability to deliver products on time and on budget
•Experience and practical knowledge in both Windows and Android environments creating, developing, and implementing UIs
• Windows software development in C++, C# and Python, including APIs such as DirectX
• Android software and UI development
• An analytical team player, who likes to find solutions to customer’s needs in cooperation with teams around the world
• Fluency in spoken and written English, with communication skills at a professional level.
ADDITIONAL USEFUL EXPERIENCE
• .NET Development, UWP, WPF
• Knowledge of implementation of embedded communications protocols, including USB, Bluetooth, I2C, SPI and UART
• Experience designing modules for human machine interfaces, such as control panels and membrane switches, touch screens, track pads, keypads, dials, controls and other physical interfaces into handheld or fixed electronics devices

Om rollen

Som elektronikkonstruktör kommer du att vara delaktig som specialist i våra kundprojekt. Antingen som en del av kundens team eller som en del av vårt projektteam som levererar industriella IoT-lösningar. Våra kunder är huvudsakligen små och mellanstora industriföretag i Sverige. Storleken på våra projekt varierar, allt från mindre projekt till större mer komplexa projekt där förutsättningarna skiftar längs vägen.

Du kommer att arbeta med design och utveckling av elektronik och hårdvara för inbyggda system i projektets alla faser från behovsanalys och lösningsförslag till implementation, test och dokumentation.

Om dig

För att lyckas i denna roll förväntar vi oss att du är nyfiken, tekniskt intresserad och har en ambition att ständigt utvecklas och hitta kreativa lösningar. Det är viktigt att du trivs med att arbeta i team och det är bra om du har erfarenhet från agilt arbete.

Din bakgrund kan vara varierande men vi ser gärna att du har en examen inom elektroteknik eller motsvarande. Vi uppskattar om du även har följande meriter:

- Minst 5 års erfarenhet som elektronikkonstruktör

- Lång erfarenhet av att arbeta med schemadesign

- Vana att hantera mätinstrument och handlödning för prototyparbete

- Kompetens att kunna utföra layout av enklare kretskort

- Erfarenhet av kraftelektronik

- God förståelse för hela utvecklingsprocessen, produktionssteget och gärna vilken dokumentation som behövs för certifiering av hårdvara

Du är van att hantera perifer- och externa enheter som till exempel sensorer. Vi uppskattar om du även har följande meriter:
Minst 3 års relevant arbetslivserfarenhet av systemutveckling
Erfarenhet av Linux, Python, Git
Erfarenhet av realtidskritiska system
Erfarenhet av att använda oscilloskop/logikanalysator för felsökning
