Process Engineer - Battery Cell

We are now looking for a Process Engineer with experience in battery cell manufacturing to join our team in Stockholm, Sweden. You will have a significant role in delivering Enerpoly’s zinc-ion battery to the market and bring the world closer to 100% renewable energy.

You will work on improving current cell manufacturing processes to deliver better quality and overall equipment effectiveness as well as supporting in scaling up the production process of battery cells. You will support in production, perform process quality validation tasks and implement optimization of manufacturing processes for scaling up production. You will lead and participate in quality critical projects, implement Lean manufacturing principles and reduce variation from our processes. You are a dedicated person that is used to work in a fast-paced environment and values high-quality work that will affect your surroundings in setting new standards in production.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Design and validate reliable processes for scale-up production of battery cells

- Manage test plans and perform production batches of battery cells

- Define and validate qualification criteria for the production of battery cells and support in manufacturing process documentation (SOP, FMEA, BOM/BOP, etc.)

- Hands on prototype building

- Analysis and optimization of cell manufacture process including materials and equipment

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience

- Experience in executing process improvement projects

- Successful track record of leading improvements

- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt

- Experience and interest in manufacturing industry

- Excellent oral and written English language skills are required

High level purpose of function.
The role of a process engineer is to work on developing and refining lithium-ion cell formation processes and equipment. This includes taking entire processes development which means moving from initial concepts to near-production-ready stages regarding procedure in formation.
And identify and specify internal and External customer expectations. Understanding what stakeholders need and ensuring that the processes meet those expectations is essential.

General understanding of the cell chemistry configuration during the charging and discharging process.
Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability analysis experience
Data analysing skill & 6sigma knowledge is preference
Experience for manufacturing process / equipment / production / QA
Electrical and Electro-chemical charging and discharging knowledge

Som Process Specialist kommer du vara en del av produktionsteamet och arbeta med utveckling och produktion av nya cellterapiprodukter. Din roll blir att driva förbättringsprocesser och ta ansvar för de administrativa delarna i produktionsverksamheten.

Dina arbetsuppgifter kommer innefatta att:

- Skriva och driva CC-ärenden, avvikelser och CAPA

- Utvärdera resultat, arbeta med processutveckling och optimering av produktionsprocessen

- Projektledning och Tech-transfer mellan R&D och produktion

- Skriva CMC-dokumentation, IMPD samt processrelaterade rapporter

- Driva och utföra kvalificering/valideringsarbete (inkl IQ/OQ/PQ, samt sköta all dokumentation kring detta)

- Vara delaktig i inspektioner

- Minst 5 års erfarenhet inom läkemedelstillverkning och GMP, gärna med tillverkning av biopharmaceuticals eller ATMP

- En utbildning masterutbildning i Bioteknik eller motsvarande akademisk utbildning

For those batteries, Northvolt is producing in-house cathode active material. It’s a large chemical plant within the large battery plants in Skellefteå and Västerås in Sweden. With the factories being built, we now need the right people to make a difference. Without skilled and talented team members, there can be no cathode active material to be manufactured into cells. We are now looking for skilled process engineers who want to join the team to make a difference. For real.
To our Cathode Process Engineering team, we look for individuals to join the:
Utility Team : focus on utility and water balances, energy optimisation, waste-water treatment, and recovery of used chemicals.
Dissolution Team : focus on process development projects in production, support pilot testing.
Precursor Team : focus on process engineering and technology development in hydrometallurgical applications, including chemical precipitation/crystallization, solid-liquid separation, and powder handling processes for battery material precursors.
Calcination Team : focus on solid handling, high temperature calcination and contamination prevention.
Commissioning Team : focus on project execution phase including mechanical completion, dynamic commissioning, and system start-up.
Technical and Process Safety Team : focus on industrial technical safety, management of fire zones, chemical safety, and dust exposure prevention.

The Process Engineer works within one or more of the above defined process areas. Responsibilities including industrial process design, mass and energy balances, product quality analysis, technology development and execution of projects. You will play an important role in the interface with equipment suppliers, engineering contractors, chemical experts, environmental engineers, production teams and Northvolt factory design teams to efficiently integrate the latest cathode chemistry and technology into the factory design. Job Description:

As a Sustainability Engineer at Enerpoly, you will play an important role in advancing our sustainability and ESG initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability (CSO), you will be responsible for developing and continuously improving Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) models, collecting and analysing data, and performing LCAs across various business areas. Additionally, you will contribute to building our sustainability and CSR framework, offering guidance and suggesting improvements to enhance our impact-related work.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and continuously improve LCA models.

- Collect and analyze data for sustainability and ESG reporting.

- Perform LCAs in various business areas to assess environmental impact.

- Contribute to building sustainability and CSR frameworks.

- Guide and suggest improvements for impact-related work.

- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability standards.

- Manage sustainability projects from initiation to completion.

- Engage with stakeholders and foster cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Relevant university degree.

- Proven experience (2 years) in sustainability-related roles.

- Expertise in conducting LCA calculations and working with LCA tools (e.g., GaBi, openLCA, EcoInvent, OneClick LCA, EcoChain, SimaPro, etc.).

- Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards (GRI, CDP, CSRD, ESRS, etc.).

- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills, including proficiency in Excel or other data analysis tools.

- Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability frameworks.

- Proven ability to manage sustainability projects with strong project management skills.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Structured, data-driven, results-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
