Underwriter Financial Lines
Zurich is one of the most specialized insurance companies within non-life insurance for local and international business in the Nordic market. We are now looking for a customer focused individual to join our Swedish Underwriting team as an Underwriter Financial Lines. At Financial Lines we work with director’s and officers’ liability insurance, cyber, professional indemnity and crime insurance.
As an underwriter, you will build and be responsible for your own portfolio of contracts and customers with assignments such as risk selection, premium setting, quoting, negotiating, measuring exposure, and analyzing risk. You will build relationships to support customer acquisition and retention. Further, you will be part of diversifying our portfolio and enhancing our customer offering by proactively contributing ideas on product development and finding new business opportunities. Qualifications:
A few years of professional experience from the Insurance Industry, preferably within Financial Lines and Underwriting
An academic degree in Economics, Law or equivalent
Solid written and verbal communication skills in English



Skills and competencies:
Ability to deliver excellent customer service
Good understanding of the underwriting process for specific and standard insurance products
Knowledge of risk analysis and selection, pricing for new business and renewals
Good negotiation skills and sales oriented
Strong presentation skills

We are now looking for a strong technical underwriter with a great portfolio management skillset to take on the position as Underwriting Technical Lead, Property and Engineering Lines.

Job description:
The Underwriting Technical Lead for Property and Engineering Lines will focus on the Nordic property market, including technical risks, engineering lines, and marine insurance portfolios across Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
This role ensures alignment across property and technical risks, engineering lines, and marine insurance to establish a strong and cohesive underwriting organization that focuses on disciplined underwriting execution. The responsibilities of this role include reinforcing the underwriting framework and foundation, leading and coordinating policy wordings, managing accumulations, providing assurance, steering portfolios, and implementing improvement actions. Additionally, this role involves overseeing the technical training and development of underwriters under the direction of the respective Line of Business (LoB) Head.


Key tasks and accountabilities:
Identify key target areas in conjunction with the respective LoB Head and develop technical underwriting strategy, tactical plans and measurable objectives embedding strategic goals and underwriting plans in line with the CI UW strategies and framework, and drive execution and delivery of results and assist in the delivery of the required underwriting result for the short tail portfolios
Develop underwriting talent through training and reinforce the underwriting framework and foundation
Monitor and manage cat exposures and accumulations
Support in assurance planning, reviews and actions
Support in Nordic internal referrals
Monitor and support in the data quality of the respective portfolios
Focus on wording development and keep wording repositories up to date
Focus on creating efficient processes in facultative re-insurance and strengthen the framework for underwriters
Ensure collaborative and coherent approach with internal and external stakeholders
Contribute to the account level underwriting activities


Qualification:
Extensive experience in property and engineering lines underwriting with proven technical underwriting capability
Master’s or bachelor’s degree
Knowledge of distribution, portfolio management, execution on strategic plans
Knowledge and experience on technical risks is preferred
Experience in handling multinational programs
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Ensure high degree of trust with the EMEA and Global Underwriting teams to obtain maximum empowerment / minimal referrals to operate in the Nordic countries

Job description:
As a Junior Pricing Actuary within Zurich Nordic, your main areas of responsibility will be case pricing of large commercial accounts, quantifying the impacts of underwriting actions, supporting market-facing underwriters on pricing matters, driving improvements in data quality, methodologies and processes to meet evolving needs and ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines. You will also support the Chief Pricing Actuary with portfolio profitability management and development of monitoring capabilities, provide support and advice to relevant business partners, including insights into underlying performance and implications for the business.


Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in actuarial science, mathematics/statistics, economics, computer science, engineering, natural sciences or any other numerate degree
A few years of experience in general insurance, preferably non-flow pricing
Pursuing/holding an actuarial qualification an advantage
English language spoken and written at a high level



Skills and competencies:
Knowledge of the insurance industry
Knowledge of the actuarial pricing concepts
Understanding of the actuarial reserving concepts
Advanced knowledge of statistics and actuarial modelling
Strong programming skills, ideally R or Python
Knowledge of product development within insurance

Job description
The Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions leads the Nordic strategy on MGAs with particular emphasis on growth and profitability. The Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions ensures and maintains appropriate engagement with the CI MGA team to enable the needs of Nordic to be fully understood and met.
The Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions leads the implementation of policies, procedures, controls, delegation and monitoring for all MGA and Portfolio business written in Nordic to ensure profitability and governance targets and obligations are achieved.
The Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions handles and leads performance reviews within the Nordic branches. The Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions ensures that the pricing of all MGA and Portfolio Solutions in the Nordic aligns with underwriting strategy and regional and local priorities. The Head of MGA and Portfolio Solutions establishes event identification, risk assessment, risk response, control activities & monitoring of the underwriting operations to provide assurance that the function is adhering to underwriting governance/compliance principles.
Key Accountabilities
Technical and operational performance of the function
Delivery of the Country Underwriting result within MGA and Portfolio Solutions with a robust underwriting performance management framework.
Effective engagement with other functions to ensure their insights and contributions are understood and actioned is expected.
Ensures the implementation, use and oversight of The Zurich Way of Underwriting
Provides guidance to the Nordic CEO and CUO on matters to steer and safeguard the business.
Ensures that the underwriting governance and oversight framework and processes are robust, used and effective
Engage, leverage and utilize Zurich out of Country resources, knowledge, empowerment and assets to aid the delivery of the plan and where required providing resources.
Provides guidance to and takes guidance from colleagues at Region, Group and the Commercial insurance business.
Engages with customers, brokers, regulators, rating agencies and other external parties as necessary
Drives product management and development within the function.

Qualifications and experience:
Experienced underwriter/ financial analyst or actuary managing a portfolio of General Insurance business
Leadership experience from managing a team
Regulatory alignment experience preferred
Extensive knowledge of the insurance industry and underwriting markets, and experience from the Nordics with an established trust with key brokers and clients is an advantage
Demonstrable expertise of underlying insurance concepts
Financial Services country regulations, compliance and governance knowledge
Corporate strategy and advanced business planning techniques
Operational change and transformation leadership experience
English language spoken and written at a high level
